I’ve been told that sound testing is going to be done for the Hoosac Wind Project ….paid for by the developer, Iberdrola. I also was told by Iberdrola in October that proper sound testing had already been done….then I received information ( I have the document ) that stated it was a “modeled study” (a computer generated study)…my Town Selectboard would not ask the developer to do an actual sound test to get a real ambient sound …prior to the turbines being turned on….
Mass DEP is supposed to monitor this process….
I am very skeptical about these results being manipulated somehow…but Steve Ambrose. a licenced acoustician said he would do a “peer reviewed” study on the testing….He and his partner Rob Rand have already writen a letter to Mass DEP and BOH to advise them that in their professional assessment that there would be NO way that this project would be in compliance with the state’s guidline of 10 dbl over ambient sound ….I definately agree with their evaluation, especially after over 2 months of torture…These things are loud….more so when the wind is blowing at me….which seems to be a lot of the time…I hope the “powers at be” will stand up to this multi-billion dollar industry and do what they have been elected to do….protect the citizens of Massachusettes and allow us to “pursue happiness” by making us feel safe again in our own homes!
