Another nail in the coffin of industrial wind in Massachusetts

December 18, 2011

A new study documents low frequency noise and infrasound in Falmouth.

The Bruce McPherson infrasound and low frequency noise study” was released on December 4, 2011. This study measured low frequency sound from an industrial wind turbine in Falmouth. It was conducted by acoustic noise control engineers Stephen E. Ambrose, (a Board Certified member of the Institute of Noise Control Engineering ) and Robert W. Rand, an INCE Member. The research documents measurable low frequency sound in homes near the turbines and concludes, “The study results emphasize the need for epidemiological and laboratory research by medical health professionals and acousticians concerned with public health and well-being.”

I remain dumbfounded, after 19 months of proof, readily available from victims of Wind 1, and now this signature study of the neighborhood, that Falmouth officials haven’t a hint of concern. The alleged experts from Mass DEP, studying Wind I’s noise compliance these past few weeks, have failed miserably since their sound equipment, each time, has broke. The alleged experts from Mass DPH, studying IWT noise effects on human health (via reading research papers), have not, nor do they plan to make a site analysis in Falmouth.

Town Hall continues to be transfixed on, and waits for qualifying information of turbine effect on human health, only if possibility it’s source is a State Agency?

Then begs the question: what of the Boston Univ. School of Public Health’s full epidemiological case study (requested by the Falmouth BoH March 2011 to the MA Dept. of Public Health)? If the town will only act on State aid, where is the towns commitment to the BoH request? To date – No response has been received from the MA Dept. of Public Health on the BoH’s request.

Seems to me the FACTS have been, and remain, available. The avoidance by State agencies to do pertinent testing and the ignorance displayed by Falmouth Town Hall in it’s duty to serve and protect, leaves looming a larger question. Is the TRUTH too turbulent for some fresh air?
